A Clever Fox and A Foolish Crow
One day a crow stole a.piece of meat. It flew away and sat on the branch of a tree. Suddenly a fox was passing under that tree. He saw the crow with the piece of meat. His mouth watered to see it. He wanted to have the piece of meat. He thought for sometimes on how he could have it. Then he hit upon a plan. He praised the crow’s voice highly. Then he requested the crow to sing a song with its sweet voice. The crow at first did not want to sing. But the fox praised it again and said, “Oh, beautiful crow! you look so fair. Your voice is very sweet. I think you can sing nicely. Would you please sing a song for me?” It also said, “If you start your singing, most of the animals of the forest will come to hear and you will be famous.” Hearing it, the foolish crow felt proud and started singing. As soon as it opened its mouth the piece of meat fell down. The clever fox took it and ran away into the forest.
