a) Where do you live?
Ans: I live at Uttara in Dhaka.
b) What things (e.g., river, house, restaurant, yard, tree, etc) can you see in your surroundings?
Ans: I see lots of houses, a park with trees, some restaurants (even on rooftops) and an airport around our house.
c) What do you like most about your surroundings? Describe two of these.
Ans: I like the park and the airport most. In the park there are trees which make the atmosphere fresh. The airport looks nice with planes taking off and landing.
d) Is there anything you do not like about your surroundings? What is that? Give one reason.
Ans: Yes, there is a club not very far from our house. And I don’t like it as miscreants gather there and use it as their sanctuary.

One day a rich father visited a poor farmer’s family with his son. The father wanted to show his son how it was to live in the village. They stayed there for a few days and nights. The beginning: Long ago there was a big jungle beside a lake.
The end :The father thanked the owl, elephant, and monkey for their help. And they entered the den.
Characters : The wolf family, a butterfly, an elephant, a monkey and an owl.
Incidents : Going deep into the jungle Joe got lost. After looking for help finally an owl took him home.

a. A Starry Night
Ans:
When stars twinkle on a clear in the sky night, it that can be called a starry night. It is very beautiful to look at. It seems that little bulbs of light are put throughout the sky. In the illustration, it looks like there is an exhibition of stars over the tree tops.
Looking at the picture I can imagine the scene. And in reality it will look more beautiful. I think it is the most wonderful a night.
b. A Riverside House
Ans:
A house built beside a river is a riverside house. It is a nice place to live in. The people who live there get fresh air and the murmuring sound of water. They can have a nice view of the river with boats plying on it.
They can even bathe in the river and have a cruise whenever they wish. They can catch fish and have a pollution free environment. Moreover, it is a picturesque place.
c. A Green Field
Ans:
A green field is where we see only green either of grass or of green paddy plants. In Bangladeshi villages this is a common scenery. As Bangladesh is an agricultural country our farmers cultivate various crops. During the season all the villages are like this except for some houses here and there.
A scarecrow is seen in the middle of the field to scare away the crows or other birds. The green field soothes our eyes. For this greenery, the background of our flag is green.
d. A Forest
Ans:
A forest is an area of land with lots of trees. In fact 33% of a country should be forested area. Though Bangladesh does not fall into that category but we have some forests too. Forests are essential for a country as trees are the largest receiver of carbon dioxide. They provide oxygen instead.
A forest is a natural habitat for various animals. It brings rain and protects our soil from erosion. So, it is ecologically very important. Hence we need to protect our forest that the dishonest SO businessman can’t destroy it indiscriminately.
e. A Wide-Open Playground Containing a Banyan Tree
Ans:
A plaground is necessary for the children of an area to grow up. If it is wide open and if there is a Banyan tree in it that’s a bonus. Children can play there in the afternoon and can take rest under the tree between games.
The weekly market or the haat can sit in the shade of the tree. The people of the locality can buy and sell necessary items there. Sometimes people arrange meeting there to discuss important issues or solve problems. So it is beneficial to both children and adults.
